Monitoring of COVID-19 vaccines in hospitals in Thailand

About our client

Thailand, like other countries in the world, has been hit by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Hospitals in the province of Chachoengsao had to quickly adapt their infrastructure to store a large number of expensive COVID-19 vaccines. Chachoengsao is a province in south-central Thailand, east of Bangkok, inhabited by almost 1 million people.

PROBLEM TO SOLVE / TASK

Many hospitals urgently needed to mobilize their resources to get ready for the mass vaccination of the society. The key problem is maintaining the correct temperature and alerting the staff in case of exceeding the set thresholds.

Hospitals required a modern, wireless system that enables constant temperature and humidity monitoring in accordance with applicable regulations on monitoring refrigerators and storage rooms.

SOLUTION

The problem was solved by the Kyouei company from Bangkok.
Kyouei set up a system that allows the monitoring of the COVID-19 vaccines in the selected hospitals of the Chachoengsao province. Efento wireless sensors measure temperature, and send the data to a gateway which transmits it to the Efento Cloud platform. Efento Cloud collects the sensor data and allows users to visualize it, automatically generate reports and notify the hospitals’ personnel, if the temperature is out of the safe range.

Efento Cloud is a cloud based platform, what provides quick scalability, security and safety of the data.  The platform is updated and monitored by Efento team, what gives the customers and users peace of mind. The data is constantly backed up in a data centre in a different geographical location than the main servers, to ensure that it will always be available for the customers.

Thanks to the platform’s API, Kyouei built a custom application that allow the hospitals’ personnel to receive the platform notifications to LINE, a communication application commonly used in Thailand. Moreover, the personnel has direct access to the measurements using a free Efento mobile application.

Results

Hospitals has solved the problem of temperature monitoring, obtaining operational reliability and data security.

Authorized people have access to current measurements from anywhere.

The customer does not bear any additional subscription or maintanence costs.

To expand the system, only the purchase of sensors is required, because one gateway can work with over 120 sensors.

The existing structure also allows for connection of temperature sensors in liquid nitrogen tanks, differential pressure sensors for monitoring clean rooms (operating rooms, rooms for storing transplantological preparations).
