Efento Cloud new features – November 2023

Uncategorized

We are glad to inform that the Efento Cloud platform has received another update. We have introduced several new features, including: full support for 4-20 mA / 0-10 V analog sensors along with the custom formulas to convert the measured values, detailed information about devices’ signal parameters and statuses, improved invitation flow and new system of assigning users to the alert rules. All changes are described in the Efento Cloud user manual.

Custom conversion formulas for 4-20 mA, 0-10 V sensors and pulse counters

One of the most important features add in the recent Efento Cloud update is the possibility to convert values measured by analog sensors (4-20 mA / 0-10 V) and pulse counters into human readable data. You can now define the target type (units) for an analog sensor and provide rules that will be used to calculate the output value, based on the measurements taken by the sensor. Moreover, the formula may depend on the value of the measurement. It is possible to define up to 6 segments for each rule and use a different formula for each of them (e.g. if the measured value is below 10 mA Formula 1 is used; if the measured value is over 10 mA, Formula 2 is used). A single conversion rules can be used by multiple sensors added to your organisation. This feature allows users to add any type of sensor to Efento Cloud using a 4-20 mA / 0-10 V analog converters. Configuration of the conversion formulas is also available trough Efento mobile application for Android.

Efento cloud - formula editor

Conversion rules editor allows you adding a custom formulas for 4-20 mA, 0-10 V sensors and pulse counters. It is possible to define the target type for each rule along with the formulas used for conversion in each segment.

Efento Cloud - formula manager

In the Channel formulas manager you can check the defined rules, edit / delete them and check their history

NB-IoT sensors signal parameters

You can now check the detailed information about the signal quality of each of your NB-IoT sensors. The platform stores RSSI, RSRP, RSRQ, SINR and ECL level. Colour coding allows you easily identifying the devices located in poor coverage. The data is refreshed every three days. Moreover, the platform stores the information that allow you to locate the device based on the Cell ID. Users have access to both the most recent values and historical data.

Status of Efento Gateways

After the update, each Efento Gateway sends information about its status to Efento Cloud. Based on that you can check the “health” of your installation. The information includes the gateway status (OK / Lost), time stamp of the last transmission, number of sensors in the gateway’s range and the gateway’s firmware version.

Alert rules configuration

After the update, you don’t need to provide phone number / email address of the notifications recipients anymore. When configuring a new rule, you can select the recipients and the notifications channels from the users list. The advantage of this approach is that when a user changes their email address or phone number, all they have to do is to change it in their profile settings and all the rules will be automatically updated.

When adding a new rule, you can now pick selected users and their notification channels from the list

Improved invitation system

Information about new invitation is now visible in the platform. On top of the email invitations, the users are notified in a dialog that they have been invited to an organisation. Confirming the invitation now requires just a single click.

Free alarm notifications to smartphones – new feature in Efento Cloud

In the April update of Efento Cloud, we introduced a new way of informing users about events in the Efento Cloud platform: free notifications in the Efento mobile application. After installing the application and configuring notifications, the user can be informed about: exceeding alarm thresholds, low battery level of loggers or loss of communication between the logger and the platform. Notifications in the mobile application are free, and the length and type of notification sound can be freely configured by the user.
