Most enterprises or institutions have their own server rooms. These are air-conditioned rooms, protected against unauthorized access, environmental conditions changes and various dangers including fire or water leakage. The design of the server room should provide an ergonomic arrangement of cabinets and racks on which servers are located, separating the room from the space for operators, while the floors must allow cables to be laid in the ducts.
Server rooms must be under constant supervision, both when it comes to monitoring climate conditions (temperature and humidity), control of power consumption and protection against unauthorized access.
Efento provides a complete data centres monitoring solution. On top of conditions monitoring, the system can notify users with SMS / email on dangerous conditions changes, generate automatic data reports, and signal power failure in the facility.
The loggers are accurate and reliable, durable and easy to maintain.
Secure software with encrypted connections – proven in over 300 large installations with up to 1000 sensors.
Easy and self-installation, the sensor is ready to use right out of the box. System configuration will take less than 15 minutes.

Temperature monitoring and proper placement of sensors is extremely important for maintaining the correct operation of devices. Temperature sensors are mounted both indoors and directly at the device inlets in the rack. The optimal temperature in the server room should be between 20°C and 21.5°C. The server inlet temperature should be between 18°C and 27°C, while the hot air outlet should not exceed 20°C above the inlet temperature. The optimal solution is to install 3 sensors for each cabinet: one in its lower part to measure the temperature of cold air reaching the cabinet, the other in the upper part to make sure that all cold air reaches the upper part, while the last one at the top of the air rack outlet, which is usually the hottest point.
Another important factor that needs to be monitored in the server room is air humidity. Dry air often causes accumulation of electrical charges on server equipment and leads to very harmful surges. On the other hand, too high humidity causes the formation of water vapor, which can lead to very dangerous short circuits.
The proper level is 40-60% relative humidity, and the optimal value is in the range of 45-50%.
Closed spaces that only authorized persons have access to may be controlled with open/close sensors, which detect the unauthorized opening of doors or windows.
Energy costs are a significant position in the costs of running the data centre. Efento pulse counters combined with the cloud platform allow you to monitor not only electricity but also water or gas consumption. This allows you to quickly detect any issues, monitor costs, and generate alarms when a certain consumption level is exceeded.
Water leaks and flooding of server rooms can be a less common, but a dangerous threat. Most often they are caused by leaking air conditioning systems, therefore it is recommended to place flood sensors near the AC equipment. Efento leakage sensors can be equipped with a point type probe with a water detecting tip or a water rope, which detects the leakage at its whole length.
